西湖大学是一所社会力量举办、国家重点支持的新型高等学校。西湖大学理学院在数学、物理学、化学3个一级学科招收和培养博士生。

西湖大学已建立和完善寓教于研的博士研究生人才培养体系，实行独立实验室（PI）制度。理学院物理系近几年发展迅速，在理论物理、凝聚态物理、原子分子和光学物理等方向有很大的进步, 高能物理和天体物理也是重点发展方向之一。实验室（PI）的主要研究方向和研究内容可通过西湖大学理学院官网教师队伍版块进行查询。

申请人如实填写并提交真实的材料，如有不属实的情况，一经发现并查实，将取消其参与资格，后续不再接受其申请。申请材料主要包括以下几方面。

1.个人陈述：内容需涵盖本人学术科研经历、博士阶段的研究计划等，1500字左右，可参考附件模板；如意向导师为外籍PI，须用英文书写，其他中英文均可；

2.在读证明：应届生须加盖学校教学管理部门或院系公章；如在境外就读，则须提供就读学校出具的在读证明，并注明预计获得学位时间；

3.成绩排名：应届本科生须提供官方出具的前三年综合排名，加盖公章。境外学校若无法取得成绩排名，可书写情况说明上传；

2.资格预审和初审
