My research is mainly focused in the field of open quantum systems.
Specifically, I am interested in “effective” methods to model the “influence” of an environment on a system (rather than the full system-bath dynamics). The intuitive, and yet non-perturbative, structure of these methods can be analyzed using a mixture of analytical, stochastic, and numerical techniques.
Some of the applications of this analysis consist in the numerical simulation of non-Markovian physics (arising when a system is strongly coupled to its environment or when the environment mediates the interaction among different subsystems), the mitigation of non-Markovian quantum noise, and the optimization of protocols for ground-state preparation.
